If I had wings, like Noah’s dove I’d fly up the river, to the one I love Fare thee well, my honey Fare thee well I had a gal, who was long and tall Moved her body, like a cannon ball Fare thee well, my honey Fare thee well And early one evenin’, in the pouring rain In my heart, was an achin’ pain Fare thee well, my honey Fare thee well Muddy river, was a muddy and wild Can’t give a bloody, about my unborn child Fare thee well, my honey Fare thee well Show us a bird, flyin’ high above Life ‘ain’t worth livin’, without the one you love Fare thee well, my honey Fare thee well Fare thee well, my honey Fare thee well

Skyscrape, daybreak And I can see the whites of your eyes Crash and burn, bombs away Terraform, our home is born And they say, and they say A pretty face will make your day Clickety-clack, train on the track Iron horse, steam rise Long days, a crystal vase Beautiful mind, our time And they say, and they say A pretty face will make your day Kind words, a simple verse Brings a smile to my face Nursery rhyme, passin’ time Sun it sets and history it binds And they say, and they say A pretty face will make your day Bustin’ loose, footloose Seven degrees between Family ties, new lives Green grass beneath your feet And they say, and they say A pretty face will make your day And they say, and they say A pretty face will make your day And I can see the whites of your eyes

Start Again 04:15
Across the county line Goin’ state side It was late at night And the moon was, was bright Dusty motel room Fresh linen remote control Long list of classifieds And hope was in my, in my eyes Start again, start again Was idle hands, oh in the end Start again, start again Was idle hands, oh in the end Picture perfect life, picture perfect wife And now I realize…I do not want this, this life Start again, start again Was idle hands, oh in the end Start again, start again Was idle hands, oh in the end Start again, start again Was idle hands, oh in the end Start again, start again Was idle hands, oh in the end Start again, start again Was idle hands, oh in the end

Fragile Mind 03:55
All the things we think and say Sometimes are not the same Many days from when they came Many days from when they came The different parts of our memories Slowly fade away So we may not think the same So we may not think the same And I just want To remember And I just want To say And I just want To remember And I just want To say Wish I could, but I can’t My mind you see doesn’t work like that

Well I hope that you remember what you did Blaspheming from that perch on which you sit You stole from him the home he had Like a siren luring a sailor to his death You filled his head with lies and bullshit You stole from him the innocence he had And I sincerely hope that you remember what you did And I sincerely hope that you remember what you did ‘Cause breaking hearts is what you do You’re thorough girl In everything you do ‘Cause breaking hearts is what you do You’re thorough girl In everything you do And one day you’ll pick up the phone You’ll say sorry and beg for forgiveness So he can hang up the phone not feeling so clueless And we can all stop hoping that you… That you find Jesus And one day you’ll stop feeling foolish You’ll forgive the folks, the folks that did you wrong And you will realize that taking an eye is wrong And you will realize that taking an eye is wrong ‘Cause breaking hearts is what you do You’re thorough girl In everything you do ‘Cause breaking hearts is what you do You’re thorough girl In everything…everything you do Hurt others trying to be square Break people once you strip them bare Breaking bones for bread is no way to live Breaking bones for bread is no way to live And I said breaking bones for bread is no way to live Breaking bones for bread is no way to live One day, one day You’ll put those childish things away And one day, one day You’ll put those childish things away One day Breaking bones for bread is no way to live Breaking bones for bread is no way to live And I said breaking bones for bread is no way to live Breaking bones for bread is no way to live

Kingsley 04:18
This old sun, this old sun Comes around now, every day This old sun, this old sun Shines down, warms the day And it follows me Oh all the way-ay-ay home Vitamin D Across the galaxy Here on earth, my nephew’s birth Beautiful king, he was meant to be Every day, in every way And I’ll always be Oh there-re-re-re for King This old sun, this old sun Comes around now, every day This old sun, this old sun Shootin’ rays of light, like dynamite And it loves us, completely Yes it does Yes it does This old sun, this old sun Comes around now, every day This old sun, this old sun Shines down, warms the day And it follows me Oh all the way-ay-ay home All the way home All the way home

Photograph 02:51
Since you been gone it’s like you were never there It’s like you evaporated into thin air A memory, a fog Can’t quite place it, not sure what to make of it Stuck watching home movies Those livin’ family stories You gave me so much And I long for your touch But you’re gone But you’re gone Now we’re sittin’ in the same room Surrounded by what we once knew You call it a failure to communicate I’m calling it a stalemate Can’t quite place it, not sure what to make of it ‘Cause you’re gone ‘Cause you’re gone ‘Cause you’re gone ‘Cause you’re gone Brilliant conclusion or mass confusion Call it illusion or someone’s musin’ Nothin’ will ever be the same again And there is no one to blame And there is no one to blame And there is no one to blame And there is no one to blame And there is no one to blame

Lois 04:29
I had that dream again The one where I’m flyin’ High above the trees And people…have trouble…spottin’ me I had that dream again The one where I’m flyin’ Flyin’ through the clouds I could see mountains, I could see an ocean, I could see for miles And I could feel, the wind, crash into me I could smell ozone, Like it was about to rain I had that dream again The one where I’m flyin’ A beautiful, lucid, dream I could fly around a world, built for me And I could feel, the wind, crash into me I could smell ozone, Like it was about to rain And I could feel, the wind, crash into me Movin’ on, following the sun I had that dream again The one where I’m flyin’ High above the trees Just a superman, searching, for his Lois Lane

about

Hello,

I started writing some of these songs in 2012 when I played in a band called Hey Pilgrim. The Ellesmere is a collection of personal material from a difficult time in my life. When Hey Pilgrim played their last show in January of 2015, I started to work on this project, and asked a couple of my close friends - Jeff and Tom - to play on it with me. We had two or three practices with the material before recording the drums and acoustic guitar as the foundation and slowly chipped away at the project over the next year and a half. The idea behind this project was to make something raw, and not overly polished, to align with the feelings of the songs that i had put together. As the project started to wind down I was also lucky enough to have my friend Kaeleigh sing back-up vocals and add some harmonies. This album is one of my favourite projects over the last couple of years and I named it after my first condo in downtown Winnipeg; a place with a pretty coloured history and where I wrote or experienced the things captured in these songs.

Sincerely,
Paul Webster
